The 8053 is one of the pillars of the Dr. Martens line-up: a shoe with five eyelets, a padded collar and a good dose of character. In the Quad version it sits on a tall platform that isn't for the shy.

The upper is cut from Orleans leather in the Dark Taupe colourway – waxy, lightly textured, heavy and soft at the same time. Its colour lightens as the leather bends and stretches, so the shoes gain character over time. The sole is joined to the upper with a Goodyear welt and yellow stitching.
